About Better Version Nutrition
Why we’re here:
My name is Liv, the owner of Better Version Nutrition. I started CrossFit in 2015 when I stumbled across a picture of Lauren Fisher (CrossFit Games athlete) as I was scrolling through Instagram and thought… wow. I want to do whatever she is doing. She looked like a superhero and moved like a world-renowned athlete. I immediately typed “CrossFit near me” into my Google search bar and showed up for my first class the next morning.
Welp, turns out this CrossFit stuff is harder than it looks. My first workout had box jumps (which I couldn’t do to a 20-inch box) and pull-ups. I distinctly remember adding one, then two, then three bands around the bar just to barely squeak out a pull-up. I was the last one to complete the workout by a long shot as a group of complete strangers huddled around me, encouraging me until I completed that last rep. I sucked and was completely in love.
The more into CrossFit I got, the more nutrition kept coming up. Every one that talked to me about nutrition asked me the same thing, “do you track your macros?” After a few times I figured I should probably do that. Long story short, I tracked everything to the gram for four years straight. If it couldn’t be tracked, I didn’t eat it. Period.
As you can imagine, this obsession with tracking gave me an insanely toxic relationship with food. It was impacting my social life, relationships and body image and I thought to myself, “Am I just supposed to track my macros until I’m 60? When does this end?”
That’s where the idea of Better Version Nutrition was born. A more sustainable way to get all the benefits of optimizing your nutrition without the obsessive weighing, measuring, and logging of food. Creating a unique plan that is simple, so everyday busy human beings can stick to it long enough to see not-so-every-day results.
We are on a mission to break the stigma that tracking macros is required to create long-lasting and life-changing improvements in your body composition and health.
